District 1070 Young Designer Competition 2012

A competition for young entrepreneurs and inventors to showcase their design ideas and skills. This provides excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate the practical and commercial application of their designs against the best within the whole of our district. Entries are judged on their innovation and practical attributes.

Open to all schools and colleges within Rotary District 1070, the competition is based around the design coursework curriculum for GCSE and A/S level student projects in Textiles, Resistant Materials (wood, metal, plastic), graphics and electronics.

All student entrants must be aged 14 to 17 on the 31 August 2011.

Prizes: Rotary trophy and £100 to the winner, with prizes for second, third and special merit.

Critical dates:

  • Clubs to reserve spaces for entrants by 12 May 2012. Download Reservation form.
  • Individual entry forms to be received by 9 June 2012. Download Entry form.
  • Young Designer final 23 June 2012 to be held at the Latimer Arts College, Kettering.

Clubs: Contact all your schools and colleges in your area covering the Design Technology curriculum. Arrange a local competition if necessary and put forward up to three entrants into the District final.

Schools: Nominate students through your local club, and support your student through the local competition and District final.
