District 1070 - Young Writer Competition

 

About the Young Writer Competition

All entries must be through a sponsoring Rotary Club
The winning District entries will be entered into the RIBI final. 
An entry may be a piece of class work, a piece of work done for SATS or Coursework or a piece written for the competition.  
Entries for prose should be:-
Junior (7-10 years old) maximum of 500 words
Intermediate (11–13 years old) maximum of 800 words
Senior (14-17 years old) maximum of 1600 words
Entries for poetry a maximum of 400 words for all age groups

A piece of Poetry or Prose may be submitted on this year’s RIBI theme which is “Olympic Dreams.” or "Olympic Spirit"

Each Rotary Club may submit one entry of poetry and one of prose for each age group.

Judging is based only on imagination, quality and style of writing, NOT presentation.

Entries may be typed, computer generated or hand written.

Organising a Competition

Rotary Clubs should arrange their own competitions and then send the winning entries to the District Competition by 1st February, 2012.

It is suggested that Clubs give certificates to all their entrants and prizes to the winners.

A completed RIBI Young Writer Entry Form must accompany all entries.

The deadline for entries is 1st February, 2012. The presentation of certificates and prizes to winners will be on 24th March 2012 at the Regional Young Musician Final, venue to be announced.
